Parasite–copepod interactions in Svalbard: diversity, host specificity, and seasonal patterns

چکیده
Abstract Copepods of the genera Calanus and Pseudocalanus are important components Arctic marine ecosystems. Despite key roles these zooplankters, little is known about organisms they interact with most intimately, their parasites symbionts. We applied metabarcode sequencing to uncover eukaryotic present within two copepod from three areas around high archipelago Svalbard. Ten distinct parasite groups were observed: four different Apostome ciliates, dinoflagellates ( Chytriodinium sp., Ellobiopsis Thalassomyces Hematodinium sp.), a Paradinium trematode. ciliates closely related Pseudocollinia spp. commonly observed parasite, overall infection rates 21.5% in 12.5% . Infection by varied seasonally, no infections early winter, but exceeding 75% spring. Host specificity between parasites, significant differences rate host for (two , trematode). The diverse assemblage copepods, frequency infection, over one five individuals infected, suggest may be playing greater role plankton communities than generally acknowledged.

Host Specificity in Microbe-Microbe Interactions
ventional monocultural crop systems often supported by high inputs of pesticides and fertilizers to sustainable agriculture. Although precise definitions of sustainable agriculture vary, one key aspect is a reduction in agrichemical inputs with a corresponding shift to alternative crop protection strategies, such as cultural practices, organic amendments, resistant or tolerant crop varieties, a...
متن کاملP-77: HOST Patterns and Sperm Quality
Background: Following the expansion of human infertility, different procedures have been utilized for separation of normal sperm during ICSI (Intra cytoplasmic sperm injection). Hypo-osmotic swelling test (HOST) is one of the tests which have been introduced for assessment of integrity of sperm membrane when confronted with hypo osmotic condition. This test may also reflect intracellular organe...
متن کاملTree phylogenetic diversity promotes host-parasitoid interactions.
Evidence from grassland experiments suggests that a plant community's phylogenetic diversity (PD) is a strong predictor of ecosystem processes, even stronger than species richness per se This has, however, never been extended to species-rich forests and host-parasitoid interactions. We used cavity-nesting Hymenoptera and their parasitoids collected in a subtropical forest as a model system to t...
متن کاملBroad geographic analyses reveal varying patterns of genetic diversity and host specificity among echinostome trematodes in New Zealand snails.
Host specificity is a fundamental component of a parasite's life history. However, accurate assessments of host specificity, and the factors influencing it, can be obscured by parasite cryptic species complexes. We surveyed two congeneric species of intertidal snail intermediate hosts, Zeacumantus subcarinatus and Zeacumantus lutulentus, throughout New Zealand to identify the number of genetica...
متن کاملWolbachia-Host Interactions: Host Mating Patterns Affect Wolbachia Density Dynamics
Wolbachia are maternally inherited intracellular bacteria that infect a wide range of arthropods and cause an array of effects on host reproduction, fitness and mating behavior. Although our understanding of the Wolbachia-associated effects on hosts is rapidly expanding, our knowledge of the host factors that mediate Wolbachia dynamics is rudimentary. Here, we explore the interactions between W...
